India is located on the Indian subcontinent in the South Asian part. India was home to the ancient Indus Valley Civilization, and is the birthplace of four world religions: Hinduism, Sikhism, Buddhism, Jainism. It is a home to scientific villages never ever in the history.
India currently comprises of a total number of 28 states along with eight union territories. India is the seventh-largest country by area, and is the second most populated country in the world currently.
Majorly, India/भारत is divided into six major known zones:-
East India, West India, North India, South India, North east India and Central India.
-Eastern part of India includes the states of Bihar, Odisha, Jharkhand, West Bengal and a union territory Andaman and Nicobar Islands.
-The Popular States of the Western region of India are Gujarat, Maharashtra, and Goa. Union Territory of Daman & Diu, and Dadra & Nagar Haveli.

-North East India includes the seven sister states of Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Tripura, Manipur and Nagaland. The Himalayan state of Jalpaiguri, and Sikkim Division are two important parts of northeast India.

The total distance from the country's northern border to it southern coastline where it meets sea at southern end is 2,930 km (1,820 mi), and the total distance from the west coast of Gujarat to the border with Bangladesh in the east is 2,040 km (1,267 mi).
India's overall coastline measures 7,517 kilometers in total length, out of which the 5,423 kilometers belong to peninsular India, and the remaining 2,094 kilometers belong to Andaman, Nicobar and Lakshadweep island chains.
